Blackwings are an archaic race native to the planet Zephox. They have been shown to have the highest Cipher rate of any of the other races, and as such are at the greatest risk in Enterprise City. They are easily defined by their purple skin and natural weapons: Their nails can sharpen and extend to become veritable shortswords, and the three bone-like nubs on their arm. The nubs are placed in three places on either arm: One down near the wrist, one just before the elbow, and the third between them. These nubs can extend into massive blades that are capable of shearing through most metals and equipment.
Blackwings are known to have a rather high affinity to magic, and as such Blackwing magic users are rather common. They are able to conceal themselves as Humans, making it hard to pick out one from a crowd of people. It is to be noted that the leader of the Silver Phantoms is a Blackwing Cipher of the Fire Sign. While rumors are plenty in what his abilities are, it has also been mentioned that he is one of the First Generation Ciphers, a rare title in the least.
Blackwings have a unique life cycle that no other race to date has displayed. Each Blackwing has what is known as a ‘Dynasty’, a set of 8 incarnations in the line. Each incarnation can appear in any universe, however there is only ever one version of the incarnation in all of the dimensions. Meaning the dimension a Blackwing is in is the only dimension they inhabit; there are no other dimensions with that incarnation. This method of elimination seems to allow them to cement the outcome of their lineage.
Blackwings will usually automatically know which number they are out of the eight incarnations in a Dynasty, and the number becomes important when they reach the end of the incarnation’s life span, known as the 36 Days. During the last 36 days of an incarnation’s life they begin to remember events that happened in their previous incarnations. They are then granted the ability to Dimension Jump, allowing them to travel to the dimensions their past incarnations inhabited so that the current incarnation may learn the Ultimate Skill the incarnation mastered during their time. At the end of the 36 days, an incarnation is faced off against their Tyrant, or the enemy that ‘reincarnates’ as well in the purpose of combatting the Blackwing. If the incarnation is ill-prepared, the chances of their defeating their Tyrant drops drastically. Either way, after facing off against their Tyrant an incarnation is fated to be mortally wounded. This wound will not be healed by the Blackwing’s advanced regeneration due to the fact that the body is fated to die from it.
At the end of the 36 Days, a Blackwing returns to their Sanctuary to reincarnate before being dumped into the next dimension. It has been discovered that some Blackwings may have as many as 13 incarnations. The song ‘Game of Life’ released by Mizu also eludes to the fact that Blackwings have a number of incarnations varying from 8 to 13.
Blackwings have been proven to have an astronomical vascular system, they have two hearts and are able to raise their body temperature far above Human levels. As an added bonus they have advanced regenerative abilities, due to the heart in the right side of their chest being magically enhanced. They can survive any wound so long as their Regenerative Heart maintains intact. To help ensure this, Blackwings have a layer of extremely thick bone above this heart that acts as a shield. This plate is known as the Rykner and is capable of stopping .50 caliber bullets with ease.
While not all information about Blackwings is known, they do seem to have enhanced magical abilities when wearing a combination of gold and diamond.
